Issues Waking Up

Here's the part where I get all selfish. I really want to be able to wake up in the morning but I also really love my sleep. To many of you, it may seem like a simple solution, go to bed earlier.  The problem is I'm a natural night owl so I toss and turn trying to go to sleep.

So, what advice do you have for helping me end my love affair with the snooze button??? Seriously, it's an unhealthy relationship!

  1. I have the same exact problem! I am a night owl so I just naturally stay up late. Fortunately for me, I work the evening shift at my job so I am able to get in bed around 3am and get up around noon lol...

Some tips that experts say will help...

Avoid using the tv and computer at night because the type of light they produce tell your body to stay up longer (basically your body will think it's still day light).

Avoid caffeine in the evening but eat foods high in tryptophan (milk, peanut butter, rice, tuna, and yogurt.)

And if all else fails, you can always get one of those alarm clocks that MAKES you get out of the bed to turn it off...some of them literally roll themselves off the table and roll around on the floor so you have no choice but to get up lol...and by the time you turn it off you probably wouldn't feel like going back to bed.

Hope some of these tips help you out some. I know how hard it is to get up early when you are a night owl.

  2. You are not alone. I've been cherishing my kid free night-time so much that I've been staying up much too late. Then, I'm not able to sleep. I think the only solution for me is a kid-free vacation. :) Janae

  3. I had this terrible problem myself. I used Tylenol Pm for 2 weeks and then Advil Pm for 2 weeks. It really got me on a better cycle so now I just take it as needed.

  4. I'm there! I LOVE staying up late but I WANT to wake up early. It sounds like a great plan at night, but once it's morning, nor so much! :)

  5. Don't have any words of wisdom for you. Even when I get 7 or 8 hours of sleep, I still hit the snooze. My alarm goes off at 6:00 and then I hit the snooze until 6:30. I usually try to make sure I have time for my devotionals before the kids get up and that's about it!
